Mary, Harold’s loving wife of 40 years has Alzheimer’s, a form of dementia. On a retired person’s fixed income it’s difficult for Harold to afford the programs and services to look after Mary and him at home but he married her for better or worse and so he soldiers on with her care to the very best of his ability.
Since Bill, Susan’s father, developed Alzheimer Disease, a form of dementia and came to live with Susan and her family it’s been difficult to afford the support she needs to care for her father at home especially with two teenagers who depend on her too. Susan is part of the sandwich generation struggling to care for children and an aging parent. Even though the kids help out they also have needs and there is just not enough in the family’s budget to go around. |
Mathew is 55, still a young man in his prime. He doesn’t have Alzheimer’s but instead suffers with early onset dementia. Since he can no longer work it’s all up to Elizabeth! On one income it’s a challenge to afford the care Mathew needs while Liz is at work full time and doing her best to care for Mathew at home. |
Carrie is saddened that with the progression of her grandmother’s Alzheimer’s she only remembers her granddaughter on a good day. Dementia is slowly stealing her grandmother away from her. Carrie knows her family could use more help in looking after grandma but they can’t afford it without outside support. |

More details...
Hi. I’m Marjorie. My father lost his battle with Alzheimer Disease in August 1995.
This is my mother, June, who wrote a book - We Rage, We Weep: A Rural Caregiver’s Experience Coping with Alzheimer’s Disease - published in 2000 recounting her emotions and experiences caring for my father. How as his caregiver she raged and wept over the challenges and injustices of this disease.
As an extension of the book and a tribute to all the people it helped find comfort and support realizing they were not alone on this journey I founded We Rage We Weep Alzheimer Foundation in May 2006. The Foundation was formed to assist all the Harold and Marys, Susan and Bills, Mathew and Elizabeths, Carrie and her grandmother and perhaps even folks like yourself who are in need of financial support to acquire the programs and services to care for a loved one at home. You can help me, help them and you with your simple donation of just $5.00 today.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Marjorie Moulton, Executive Director
