June’s story as Rusty’s primary caregiver was unique in that the couple lived on a rural ranch in central British Columbia 100 kilometers (65 miles) from the nearest community. As a farmer and logger by trade Rusty dealt with dangerous situations and equipment every day which was only made all the more hazardous when complicated by his illness.
